Toad Data Modeler version 3.0 was a significant increase in the capabilities in comparison to Toad Data Modeler 2. Toad Data Modeler version 3.0 was written from scratch. The latest version 3.1 contains many new features and useful enhancements.

Updates to Toad Data Modeler v. 3.1.5
- Expert Mode - Expert Mode (Settings menu | Options | General) includes functions and options for more advanced users (Script Explorer, Package Explorer, Version Manager etc.)
- Verify Model - Possibility to save settings for verification of particular model (new Save Settings button).
- Main Menu - Filtering menu items accordingly to the ability of current model (database).
- Object Oriented Reverse Engineering - Now TDM 3 offers you two different methods of reverse engineering - bulk loading of objects and loading of even one particular object or a group of selected objects.
- Enhanced Reverse Engineering Wizard - Toad for Oracle Aliases available, new steps added (e.g. What to Reverse), possibility to save selected options within an alias etc.
- New Format of Aliases - Format of aliases has been changed. Newly created aliases will have extension .txa.
(Used to be .tta.) A warning message will appear in case you have any aliases in old format. The message will ask you if you like to convert the old aliases to the new format. We recommend you to do so.
- Convertor - New interface in the Convertor dialog, saving the dialog properties. (New combo-boxes, Execute and Generate Report buttons, OTPs tabs.)
- Oracle database - Reverse Engineering – Partitioning Information for Tables and Indexes are loaded now.
- Metamodel - Possibility to add abstract classes into Metamodel.

- New default layout of the application – with Model Explorer, Application View and Message Explorer.
- Automatic docking of Model Explorer and Message Explorer.

Upgrade and Compatibility
Toad Data Modeler 3 allows you to open *.DM2 and *.DMX files of Toad Data Modeler 2. (DMX file is a DM2 file in XML format.) This applies only to models of database systems that are supported by both applications - Toad Data Modeler 2 and Toad Data Modeler version 3.
It is not possible to open models created in Toad Data Modeler 3 in Toad Data Modeler 2.
Global Operations
This release is Unicode-enabled and supports any character set. In this release, all product components should be configured to use the same or compatible character encodings and should be installed to use the same locale and regional options. This release is targeted to support operations in the following regions: North America, Western Europe and Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Far-East Asia, Japan. |
