Toad Data Modeler version 3.0 was a significant increase in the capabilities in comparison to Toad Data Modeler 2. Toad Data Modeler version 3.0 was written from scratch. The latest version 3.4 contains many new features and useful enhancements.

New Features in Toad Data Modeler v. 3.4

  • Support for DB2 LUW 9.5
  • Sync & Convert Wizard - New wizard for model conversion, model merge, alter script generation, model compare and alter report generation. (It replaces the Convertor dialog.)
  • Alter scripts for MySQL 5.0 and MySQL 5.1, PostgreSQL 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, DB2 UDB 8, DB2 v9 and DB2 v9.5 database
  • Import from DDL script of MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008, MySQL 5.0 and 5.1, DB2 UDB 8, DB2 v9, DB2 v9.5 database
  • Naming Conventions - They allow you to define your own rules for physical names of objects, synchronize captions and names and verify whether the physical names of objects match the naming convention rules.

Upgrade and Compatibility

Toad Data Modeler 3.4 allows you to open *.DM2 and *.DMX files of Toad Data Modeler 2. (DMX file is a DM2 file in XML format.) This applies only to models of database systems that are supported by both applications - Toad Data Modeler 2 and Toad Data Modeler version 3.
It is not possible to open models created in Toad Data Modeler 3 in Toad Data Modeler 2.

Global Operations

This release is Unicode-enabled and supports any character set. In this release, all product components should be configured to use the same or compatible character encodings and should be installed to use the same locale and regional options. This release is targeted to support operations in the following regions: NorthAmerica, Western Europe and Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Far-East Asia, Japan.
